KRAUS KHU100-26 vs Ruvati RVH7250: 30-Inch Cabinet Fit

For a 30-inch sink base, the Ruvati RVH7250 gives you the larger published bowl; the KRAUS KHU100-26 has the smaller outer footprint. Both manufacturers list a 30-inch minimum cabinet, but that does not make the sinks interchangeable. Compare the mounting space, countertop cutout and plumbing before choosing.

Which one should you choose?

More bowl space: Ruvati RVH7250

Start here if washing larger cookware is your priority. Its published 26 × 17-inch bowl is 2 inches wider and 1 inch longer front to back than the KRAUS bowl. The tradeoff is a larger 28 × 19-inch outer footprint. Buy only after your installer confirms the cabinet, clips and countertop layout.

Smaller footprint: KRAUS KHU100-26

Start here if your planned sink area favors a smaller envelope and a 24 × 16-inch bowl will handle your cookware. The outer footprint is 26 × 18 inches. The compromise is less published bowl space; the smaller dimensions still do not guarantee clearance in a cabinet with obstructing rails or supports.

Neither is the right shortcut if you need a drop-in replacement, a built-in workstation ledge or a shallower basin to work with existing plumbing. Resolve that requirement first rather than choosing between two unsuitable sinks.

The dimensions that change the decision

Same-scale schematic: KRAUS KHU100-26 has a 26 by 18 inch outer footprint and 24 by 16 inch bowl; Ruvati RVH7250 has a 28 by 19 inch footprint and 26 by 17 inch bowl. Both bowls are 10 inches deep.

A height discrepancy worth catching: KRAUS’s current product page lists 10½ inches of external depth, its linked installation drawing shows 10¼ inches, and the Amazon listing checked for this article says 10⅜ inches. The bowl depth is listed as 10 inches. We cannot reconcile those external-height figures from the documents, so do not design a tight disposal installation around one of them. Have the installer confirm the supplied unit and applicable drawing.

The table deliberately separates bowl depth from total installed height. Neither the drain assembly nor the disposal is included in the simple 10-inch bowl-depth comparison.

Why can two different widths both specify a 30-inch cabinet?

The minimum cabinet is a model-specific installation requirement, not a formula that you can apply across brands. A nominal cabinet width is also not the unobstructed space inside it. Side panels, a face frame, rails, support arrangements and the mounting hardware affect the available envelope.

That means “30 minus 28 leaves 2 inches for clips” is not a reliable installation calculation. The 30-inch label and the 28-inch sink dimension describe different things. A fabricator needs actual cabinet measurements and the sink’s mounting arrangement.

Do not automatically upsize the KRAUS because the Ruvati is 28 inches wide: the KRAUS installation manual lists a 33-inch minimum cabinet for KHU100-28. This comparison is specifically about KHU100-26, not the similarly named 28-inch version.

Three installation checks beyond the cabinet label: inside cabinet clearance and clips; countertop cutout and reveal; bowl, disposal and wall-drain clearance.
Use all three checks together. This planning checklist is not an installation template or an approval of a particular cabinet.

For a new countertop, give the fabricator the exact sink and template before the cutout is finalized. For an existing countertop, matching an outside dimension is insufficient: the cutout shape, corner radius, reveal and available mounting surface must also suit the replacement. See our 30-inch cabinet examples and fit checks for the full sequence.

Will the larger bowl make a useful difference?

The Ruvati’s extra space matters most when an item is close to the KRAUS bowl’s limits. An awkward roasting pan, a tray with handles or a broad stockpot can turn a small dimensional difference into a different washing routine. If your largest items already fit comfortably within the smaller bowl, the extra size may offer less benefit.

Try a simple planning exercise: mark 24 × 16-inch and 26 × 17-inch rectangles on paper, then place your largest cookware over each one. Include handles and the space needed to turn the item. This is a screening exercise, not proof that a pan will lie flat in either sink.

The published bowl dimensions do not describe every point along the curved corners or sloping sides. A bottom grid raises cookware above the floor, while the countertop reveal can change the usable opening at the top. For a close fit, ask for the relevant drawing or measure the actual bowl at the height where the item will sit.

Both are single bowls, so neither provides a permanent divider for keeping a wash bath separate from rinsing. A removable basin can help, but it takes up space. If that tradeoff matters more than two inches of width, start with single-bowl versus double-bowl layouts.

What is included, and what still needs checking?

KRAUS lists a bottom grid, drain assembly, towel, mounting hardware and cutout template. Its specification sheet identifies the grid as KBG-100-26 and the strainer as ST-1. Ruvati lists a bottom grid, basket strainer, decorative drain cover, mounting brackets and template; its sheet identifies the grid as RVA67250.

These are the documented manufacturer packages. Before ordering, confirm what the particular Amazon offer includes, especially if selecting a used, open-box or alternative seller offer. A missing grid or mounting kit changes the total purchase and installation work.

The supplied basket strainer is not the same as a disposal mounting assembly. If you are installing a garbage disposal, verify its flange and mounting compatibility; the manufacturers direct disposal users to the disposal’s own flange rather than simply fitting the included standard drain. Plan the disposal body, outlet, trap and wall connection using our depth and disposal-clearance worksheet.

Neither model is being recommended here as a workstation with an integrated accessory ledge. A grid resting on the bowl floor does a different job from a cutting board supported at the top. If that is what you want, compare whether a workstation sink suits your routine before buying either.

Gauge, finish and noise: what this comparison cannot prove

Both are listed as 16-gauge stainless sinks with sound-damping treatments. Those facts do not establish which one sounds quieter in your kitchen, drains more completely or resists visible marks better. We have no matched installation test that would support ranking those outcomes.

For this pair, prioritize the dimensions and installation first. Then compare the current offer, included components and finish appearance. Choosing between them on a presumed gauge advantage would be a mistake because their stated gauge is the same. Our 16 versus 18 gauge guide explains what that specification can and cannot tell you.

Before ordering: a five-point check

  1. Confirm the exact variation: KHU100-26, 26-inch single bowl, or RVH7250, 28-inch single bowl. Recheck after changing any size selector.
  2. Get fit approval: actual cabinet interior, rails, supports, clips and access—not just the cabinet label.
  3. Agree on the countertop: opening, corner shape, reveal, faucet space and the actual template. Ruvati’s installation guide specifically tells installers to check the template against the sink before cutting.
  4. Resolve everything below it: total sink height, drain or disposal, wall connection and service access. Deal with the KRAUS height discrepancy if clearance is tight.
  5. Review the offer and inspect on arrival: seller, condition, included parts and return terms. Both installation guides call for checking the sink for damage or missing parts before installation; do that before irreversible countertop work.

Our choice by condition: Favor the RVH7250 when the larger bowl is useful and its full mounting plan works. Favor the KHU100-26 when a smaller footprint suits the project and the smaller bowl passes your cookware check. If either has unresolved cutout or plumbing problems, postpone that purchase rather than relying on its minimum-cabinet label.

Common questions

Does a 30-inch cabinet need a 30-inch sink?

No. These two models have different, smaller outer footprints while both list a 30-inch minimum cabinet. Choose using the exact model’s installation requirements and the measured cabinet interior.

Can RVH7250 replace KHU100-26 in the same opening?

Do not assume so. Their outer footprints and bowl dimensions differ. A fabricator must compare the existing opening, reveal and mounting surface with the replacement sink; the shared cabinet minimum does not establish cutout compatibility.

Which one is easier to install with a garbage disposal?

We cannot rank that from the bowl dimensions. Both have a listed 10-inch bowl depth and rear-center drain, but the actual sink assembly, disposal and wall-drain layout decide compatibility. The KRAUS external-height discrepancy is an additional reason to verify the complete assembly.
