Choose the KRAUS Dex KA1US33B for its large plain bowl, brushed Radiant Pearl finish and removable grid-and-strainer arrangement if those details suit your cleaning routine. Its finish can help disguise everyday marks, but buying a more elaborate surface does not remove the need to rinse, dry and clean the parts underneath your dishes.
This is the 33-inch single-bowl stainless model, not the neighboring double-bowl, ADA or DrainAssure variant. Our assessment uses KRAUS documentation and the selected Amazon US package checked September 19, 2026. We have not tested its finish, sound level or cleaning time.
What the finish changes in daily use
KRAUS describes Radiant Pearl as circular brushing that helps mask scratches and scuffs. That is an appearance benefit: a small mark may be less conspicuous against the existing pattern. It does not establish a scratch-proof coating, a measured advantage over every satin sink or a surface that never shows water deposits.
Think about what currently bothers you. If it is seeing fine utensil marks, the finish is relevant. If it is lifting a heavy grid, reaching into a deep bowl or repeatedly cleaning a clogged strainer, the finish alone will not solve that problem. These are separate reasons to buy or pass.
| Part | What it contributes | Routine still required |
|---|---|---|
| Radiant Pearl steel surface | Brushing intended to make normal marks less noticeable. | Rinse residue and dry the surface; avoid damaging cleaners. |
| BG3117 bottom grid | Keeps dishes elevated above the bowl floor. | Lift out and clean both the grid and the exposed floor. |
| ST-4 strainer and cover | Catches debris and conceals the drain fitting. | Remove trapped food and clean beneath the cover. |

The bottom grid adds a task as well as protection
The supplied grid is a reason to compare the full package, rather than assuming you must buy a generic protector. KRAUS identifies it as BG3117 in the KA1US33B specification. Keep that number when ordering replacements; the sink’s nominal width is not an accessory part number.
A raised grid keeps dishes off the floor, but it also stands between your cloth and the floor. Before choosing this arrangement, consider whether you will comfortably lift it out, clean around its feet and put it back. A full sink of dishes can hide residue below the bars.
Use the grid with its protective feet and bumpers in place. If one goes missing, stop treating a bare metal contact point as harmless. Confirm the appropriate replacement with the manufacturer. For measurements and drain-opening alignment, see our sink-grid compatibility guide.

Check price on AmazonKeep the drain cover and actual plumbing separate
The ST-4 documentation shows a removable strainer and decorative stainless cover. The cover improves the appearance of the drain area; food caught beneath it still needs to be removed. A neat top view is not a check that the drain is clear.
If your project includes a garbage disposal, have the installer confirm the flange and cover arrangement for that disposal. A basket strainer, a decorative cover and a disposal connection are different components. Do not assume that every item shown in the sink package remains in the final installation.
A practical care plan to consider before ordering
- Clear the bowl and expose the floor. Remove the grid when needed so that cleaning reaches the areas below it.
- Use gentle cleaning materials. KRAUS’s stainless-steel care section specifies mild ammonia-free liquid soap, a soft sponge, rinsing and drying with microfiber.
- Treat deposits separately from scratches. Its care guidance permits vinegar on a soft cloth for mineral deposits, followed by a thorough rinse and drying. A mineral mark is not automatically permanent finish damage.
- Avoid aggressive refinishing. The same guidance warns against bleach, chlorine, abrasive powders, steel wool and wire brushes. Ask KRAUS before trying to alter the circular finish with an abrasive scratch-removal method.
Read the section for stainless steel specifically. Instructions for a wood board, another coating or a faucet may differ. Do not combine cleaners or transfer a chemical recipe from another product’s care instructions. This guide does not prescribe a disinfecting treatment.
Check whether the rest of the sink is right for you
The specification lists a 32⅞ × 18⅞-inch overall footprint, a 31⅛ × 17⅛-inch bowl and 9-inch bowl depth. Overall height is 9¼ inches. The minimum cabinet is 36 inches left to right and 24 inches front to back. Confirm the actual sink, current template and below-counter space before installation.
Those measurements make it a large undermount bowl, not a direct replacement merely because another sink is called 33 inches. The rear-centered drain also affects plumbing placement. Use our sink-depth and disposal-clearance guide before committing to a deeper installation.
Shortlist this Dex when the finish, removable grid and covered strainer are features you will maintain and appreciate. If your main requirement is a prep board that rides on an integrated workstation ledge, compare a purpose-built workstation separately. Paying for a finish you like makes sense only after the bowl, maintenance access and installation requirements work for you.
