Choose the KHU640-33 when you want a shallower plain bowl and its offset drain suits your cabinet layout. Choose the KHU100-32 when you want the deeper bowl and thicker listed steel. Both require a specified 36-inch minimum cabinet width. The Fairlane’s “33-inch” name does not mean it has a full 33-inch outside width, and neither model is a workstation sink.
This comparison uses US model specification sheets and the selected Amazon variants, checked September 16, 2026. We have not installed or durability-tested these sinks. The decision below is about documented geometry and how you plan to use the bowl.

The important difference is below the countertop
The KHU640-33 has an 8⅝-inch-deep bowl; the KHU100-32 lists 10 inches. That is a 1⅜-inch difference in listed depth. If your usual work is rinsing plates and washing a few pans, reaching into the shallower bowl may be preferable. If you often soak a tall stockpot, the deeper bowl may be more useful. Neither preference can be settled by the gauge number.
Before choosing, put your largest pot on the counter and consider how you lift, turn and rinse it. A deeper bowl can contain more of the pot, but it also puts the bottom lower. The countertop height, your reach and the installed bottom grid all affect the working position. We cannot infer your comfort from a specification sheet.
Actual dimensions, not just the retail name
| Detail | KHU640-33 | KHU100-32 |
|---|---|---|
| Outside width × front-to-back | 32½ × 19 in | 32 × 19 in |
| Inside bowl | 30½ × 17 in | 30 × 17 in |
| Listed bowl depth | 8⅝ in | 10 in |
| Steel | 18 gauge | 16 gauge |
| Drain | Offset | Rear center |
| Specified minimum cabinet | 36 in wide; 24 in front-to-back | 36 in wide; 24 in front-to-back |
The Fairlane is half an inch wider at both the outside and the listed bowl width. That modest gain is useful only if your cookware and installation benefit from it. The two bowls have the same listed front-to-back dimension; the Fairlane’s main compromise is depth, not a smaller opening in every direction.
Do not reuse an existing cutout on these numbers alone. Outside rim size, mounting access, corner shape and the chosen countertop reveal are different checks. A sink can share a minimum cabinet size with another model without fitting the same countertop opening.
When the Fairlane is the better purchase
Start with the KHU640-33 if you need a straightforward washing bowl, prefer less depth, and can use the offset drain location. At our purchase check it was the lower-priced new-sink option, but compare the current quotes and complete installation cost before deciding.
Its specification includes a bottom grid and strainer. Budget around the equipment you will actually use, including any disposal connection or replacement plumbing. An offset drain moves the plumbing path; it does not automatically create a clear storage bay. Draw where the drain assembly, shutoff valves and wall connection will sit.
Main limitation: do not select it just because the model name sounds wider if the missing bowl depth matters more to your cleanup routine.

The KHU100-32 is the more relevant option if the 10-inch bowl depth solves a specific washing problem and a rear-center drain works with the plumbing below. Its 16-gauge specification indicates thicker steel than 18 gauge, but it is not evidence of a measured noise, scratch or lifespan advantage in our comparison.
A deeper bowl also deserves a closer under-counter check. The KHU100-32 drawing shows 10¼ inches overall vertically while its specification text calls the sink depth 10 inches. The Fairlane drawing shows 9 inches overall. Those are different measurements from the usable bowl depths in the table. Add the actual drain or disposal assembly when checking the route to the wall; do not treat a bowl-depth figure as the complete installed height.
Main limitation: paying more for depth and gauge will not add a ledge, cutting board or workstation system.

- Have the installer confirm cabinet, countertop and mounting compatibility for the exact model.
- Compare your largest cookware with the inside bowl, allowing for curved corners and the grid.
- Choose the working depth you want, then trace the actual drain connection.
- Compare the current sink price plus installation and necessary parts.

To choose between these two depths, compare where your hands will work after installation. The same countertop thickness is added above either undermount bowl, and a grid changes the dish resting level without raising the plumbing. Use the installed sink depth and reach check with each regular user before treating the deeper bowl as an automatic upgrade.
